My personal celebration on this beautiful spring day included yoga class, then a walk to the local farmer’s market, taking photographs along the way of my neighbors’ gardens. Whoever has raised that spectacular pink and white rhododendron tree deserves a special blessing!

Flower Gallery: Flowering Trees
Flowering trees from around the world, or at least the US and Italy.
Casa de Flores
Yesterday, after several (many!) weeks of hard work and other stresses, we took a day of rest: a yoga retreat with Victoria Russell Bell and a small group at Casa de Flores – which reminded me in spirit of one of my favorite places on the planet, Spankyville.
We practiced yoga out under a clump of redwood trees, where it was refreshing just to stare up into the soft green fronds, stretching far above us. And we had time to explore the garden, a lovely jumble of colors, scents, and textures. So (of course) I took lots of pictures of flowers.
Thanks to Vickie, Teresa, and Joe for a lovely day!
Flower Gallery: Geraniums
Geraniums seem to be Italy’s favorite flower: you see them everywhere, perhaps because the vivid red ones are such a lovely contrast to the heavy grey stone of ancient buildings.
Little Sun Blossom
I don’t know what these are, but a neighbor has a whole bush full of them, which makes me happy every time I walk by.
